Programme Overview
Digital innovation is reshaping the way we design and interact with products, creating a need for professionals who can blend creativity with technology. The ePostgraduate Diploma in Interaction Design (ePGD IxD) from IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay, empowers working professionals to master human-centered design through hands-on projects and practical techniques.
With a flexible 36-credit curriculum, learners navigate the entire digital product lifecycle — from ideation and user research to prototyping and launch. Personalisation is key: learners choose 5–6 courses from 8, combining online modules, hybrid learning, and in-person studio sessions to gain the skills to lead in design and product organisations.

Working professionals can earn the ePGD in Interaction Design from IDC, IIT Bombay, by completing 36 credits from the prescribed courses within 3 years. Courses (currently 8 per year) carry 6–12 credits each. On earning 36 credits, participants become eligible for the diploma. Course offerings and credits are subject to change. If a participant wishes to pursue courses beyond the 36 credits, they will be required to pay additional fees for each extra course they choose.

The e-Postgraduate Diploma in Interaction Design (ePGD IxD) is a certified programme offered by the IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay, under Educational Outreach (EO). It provides professionals with a rigorous understanding of interaction design principles, human-centered design, usability, and emerging digital technologies. The diploma is recognized by World Education Services (WES) and carries the same academic credibility as other IIT Bombay certifications.
The ePGD IxD is a 36-credit programme designed for working professionals. Participants can complete it within 12 to 36 months, depending on their schedule. The curriculum blends online and in-person courses, combining theory, research, and studio-based learning at IIT Bombay.
Courses are delivered in two formats—online and in-person. Online courses are typically conducted through live weekend sessions, while in-person modules are held at IIT Bombay’s design studios and labs in intensive short-term formats. Even online courses require participants to visit the campus for final presentations or assessments.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Design, Engineering, Architecture, Fine Arts, Applied Arts, Information Architecture, or related disciplines.
Professionals from other fields with 3+ years of industry experience in roles like UI/UX Design, Product Management, or Visual Communication are also eligible.
Alternatively, candidates with a non-design degree who have qualified for CEED may apply.
Each course includes continuous assessments such as assignments, projects, and a final exam. Participants must achieve at least 50% overall and 40% in the final assessment to pass. Upon earning 36 credits within 3 years, learners receive the ePGD in Interaction Design diploma from IIT Bombay.
Graduates gain access to IIT Bombay’s alumni network, advanced learning in interaction and product design, and exposure to emerging areas such as AR/VR, Data Visualization, and Human–Computer Interaction. The flexible structure enables professionals to upskill without pausing their careers—earning a globally recognized credential from one of India’s top institutions.
