There have been enormous strides from research in discovering how we manages most effectively. Finding a way to simply and effectively share these ideas with you has been a big undertaking, but we feel it’s well worth doing—you’ll see that many of these ideas, although simple, are incredibly powerful and in many ways will alter your views on work and life.
The program allows a participant to specialize in one or more functional areas like:
- Business Analytics
- Human Resource Management
- Entrepreneurship
- Logistics & Supply Chain Management
- Finance
- Global Business
The EMBA program is based on a strong general management foundation and a student may choose a functional specialization in their last trimester.
The courses in this program are presented to you in different ways: lectures from our professors, PowerPoint presentations for content, readings and case studies from the best universities in the world, activities and assignments to test learning, and discussion forums to promote discussion and conversation.
You’ll gain insight into complex areas that management draws from – accounting, engineering, statistics, law, psychology, economics, anthropology and many more.
Lectures
Class lectures are held on alternate weekends and our professors take students through complex business concepts, following an established program architecture and course outline. These lectures are also recorded and stored on the cloud to allow students to revisit them multiple times and the PowerPoint presentations and readings are shared on our learning management system (LMS) that all students have access to.
Activities/Assignments
Dayananda Sagar University has designed activities to help students understand their learning progress. These activities will give a better idea of how to apply concepts that you learn in class to complex problems in the real world.
Discussion Forums
Discussion forums allow you to ask questions, share and learn with other participating students, and even help to help by sharing your own information and thoughts.
By registering with this program, you will have the choice to access the content of the entire course (lectures, workshops, assignments, quizzes and rated work) by paying the tuition fee, attending lectures, completing assignments, passing examinations paves the way for obtaining a degree certificate. Faculty driven assignments are extremely important and must reflect your own learning and work.
Yes, it is perfectly possible to use work from your assignments or the capstone project to publish in serious peer-reviewed journals. This would allow you to contribute to the research requirements of India and add to the larger body of management knowledge. Creation of new knowledge will assist you in building depth of understanding and dissemination of information.
The capstone project is generally a solution-driven project where an industry problem is identified and the student researches, identifies the problem and possible solutions and presents a report even while drawing extensively from the learning offered by the program and its different courses.
The capstone project is an important component and offers an elegant completion to the management program. Students are assisted by a faculty guide who is invariably a subject matter expert.
In a world that is turning increasingly complex and uncertain, managing careers need special skills. This MBA program provides a career success fundamental, a framework where learners can recognize problems, solve them and make decisions.
Dayananda Sagar University Executive MBA program allows a student to collaborate and communicate, competencies that are critical in the present scenario. The programs strong general management base gives a student a stable managerial foundation and a platform to construct a further specialization.
The pedagogy exposes the student to business cases studies from the foremost national and international management schools like Harvard Business School, MIT- Sloan, INSEAD and the IIMs. Case study analysis is driven by the professor.
Each of the fifteen courses that you will be required to take has a set course outline that is followed by the professor and acts as a guide for the student. These course outlines have been vetted by subject matter experts and are altered as required after due approval to keep the program current and follow industry closely.
About 90% of our professors have held senior leadership positions in industry and also have outstanding educational qualifications from world-class institutions like the IIT, IIM, MIT, Rochester Institute of Technology, SDA Bocconi, University of Illinois, University of Maryland and Babson College. Professors are not only teachers but are brilliant mentors and career guides too.
Dayananda Sagar University believes that learning cannot be restricted to a single book and so point the students towards a set of reference books and allow the student the freedom to choose. The student is encouraged to buy text-books of their own choice.
Readings and case studies are shared for class discussion and pre- & post-lecture reading is also conducted.
Examinations are conducted at the end of each trimester on Saturdays and Sundays at the university. The student needs to visit the campus and take a pen/paper examination. Further to this in the interim, there are ‘make-up’ examinations to allow greater flexibility to the working professional in taking examinations should they not pass or miss an examination due to work requirements.
Each class has great diversity and the program is generally represented by students from a wide variety of organizations ranging from IT & ITES majors like INFOSYS, IBM, WIPRO, TCS and CISCO Systems to consulting firms like Ernst & Young, Accenture, Capgemini and the manufacturing industry represented by ABB, BOSCH, Buhler and Larsen & Toubro. We are increasingly seeing participation from organizations in the Supply Chain Management space like Cargill, DHL and Bluedart.
About thirty percent of the class is women and the average work experience for the entire class is 7.5 years making the learning experience a fantastic one.
The Dayananda Sagar University will be pleased to offer all our students who graduate with an EMBA degree the status of an alumni.
We expect a student to complete the program in seventeen months with an outer limit of thirty-six months.
The university will be pleased to extend the completion timeline on certain conditions being met.
Class attendance is highly recommended and the student is expected to attend a minimum of 50% of class sessions. This is not a distance education initiative.
Yes, as determined by the DSU.
Since the Executive MBA program is specifically suited to the working professional, we do not directly assist a student in terms of placement. However, students are urged to actively network and scout for career opportunities. We are also open to mentoring students, on the students request and coaching them on career opportunities.
Personal branding is crucial to cultivating a successful career. Marketing yourself and your career as a brand is more than just about creative business cards or pretty fonts– it’s about how you present yourself to potential clients, customers, and anyone else imperative to your career. The program is extremely beneficial in this regard.
On successful completion of all courses, students will be given a provisional degree certificate. The degree will be conferred upon a student during the following convocation which is generally held at the year end.
