Pot luck Mania – Every Foodies’ Paradise

Monday, March 6, 2017, was a special day for jaro education. It was the day where all the employees came together to celebrate the Pot Luck event. Dishes ranging from Chaat to Pulav, Namkeen to dessert all decorated the cafeteria and enticed everyone’s senses and hunger. This was a very special event for all the foodies who had the golden ticket to try out new dishes and gorge on their favorite ones. A buffet system ensured that everyone could come back for seconds and even third helpings. But, what made this even more interesting was the fact that this was actually a competition.
The teams who took part were Accounts, Marketing and Academics, Human resources, and B2B, NBFC, and Verification. Though the essence was to get together and have a great time, the element of competitiveness brought in an aroma of exciting homemade dishes that represented different parts of our country. Everyone came duly prepared to put their best foot forward, or rather their best fork forward. Even hostelites and PGians put in efforts to contribute in every way possible. This itself made this event a unique experience for all.
The Accounts team had a fruit-based and thali theme where everyone witnessed an artistic presentation with music and saree-decked hosts that would make any Master Chef proud. The dishes were another story. The menu ranged from Veg and Non-veg thali, with Biryani, Puri, Jelly and wine-stuffed strawberries, Gajar ka Halwa, and so much more.
The HR team upped the competition with banners and decorations that were both inviting and fun. Decked in Gandhi caps and towels on their shoulders, everyone was met with a gang of Chaat servers ready to prepare Chaats just the way one likes. Apart from that, they also presented a wide variety of other delicacies like Pulav, Kheema Pav, and even Neer dosa.
Then there was the marketing and academic team who combined their forces to present a unified collection of delicacies that represented the food from their hometown. Hence, the food ranged from Misal Pav to Sheer khurma and from Pineapple cake to Kela halwa. Even the evergreen staple food of all hostelites and PG professionals—Maggi—made its presence felt here.
Then, lastly but not the least, there was the B2B, NBFC, and Verification team joining hands to present a variety of Maharashtrian delicacies like Puran Poli, Modak, Sheera, Dhokla, and a wide range of sweets.
Choosing a winner from all the teams proved to be a big challenge for our judge, Dr. Sanjay Salunkhe, CEO of jaro education. He had at first decided on a tie between the Accounts and the HR teams. However, a tie breaker was decided and a chit was drawn bearing the winner’s name, which happened to be the Accounts team. A glorious victory indeed!
Everyone cheered, laughed, and had a wonderful time in this gastronomy affair for it truly was a memorable one. Everyone came together to celebrate their love for food. Perhaps, the saying that the way to a person’s heart is through the stomach is true after all.
