Introduction

One-year MBA programmes are for those working professionals having at least four years of industry-relevant experience. These professionals can pursue such MBA courses and upskill themselves since they are part-time programmes that don’t need quitting jobs.

Professionals can also choose to pursue various online MBA courses, such as the Online MBA Degree Program by D Y Patil Vidyapeeth, most of which are part-time.

However, when it comes to one-year MBA programmes, those who wish to pursue them will need specific skill sets as part of the eligibility criteria. Also, at times, many institutions ask for relevant work experience.

Here is a quick guide to what you need to pursue a one-year MBA programme in India.

Eligibility Criteria for One-Year MBA Programmes

Seeking admission into a one-year MBA programme such as the ones offered by D Y Patil Vidyapeeth does not require any entrance exam. Moreover, a successful candidate must have completed at least a bachelor’s degree programme from any recognized university or other such institution in any stream by securing at least 50% aggregate scores.

Best One-Year MBA Programmes

The MBA (Executive) Degree by Shiv Nadar University is unlike any one-year MBA program. It is a full-time management course that requires a different skill set, knowledge, and experience. For instance, to pursue an Executive MBA programme in a reputed B-School, you must have two year of work experience to begin with. Likewise, other differences between the two management programmes are as follows:

1.   Course Duration

As the name suggests, a one-year MBA programme lasts for only one year and is a part-time programme for working professionals. However, that is not the case for the Executive MBA or Executive PGDM programme offered by Alliance University, which is a two-year, full-time course. So, while you can pursue online MBA courses in India, such as the ones by D Y Patil Vidyapeeth, the same is not true for an Executive MBA course, like the ones offered by Shiv Nadar University.

2.   Work Experience

As mentioned earlier, a B-School may ask for at least five years of relevant work experience to grant entry into a one-year MBA programme. However, the same institution will ask for at least eight years of relevant work experience for an Executive MBA programme.

3.   Eligibility

Another area where an Executive MBA is different from a One-year MBA programme is the eligibility requirements. While you must have completed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a reputed university or institution by securing at least 50% marks to pursue both the Executive MBA as well as a one-year MBA program, there are other subtle differences in the eligibility criteria.

For instance, as suggested, the work experience required is different for both the courses.
